Purchasing my services implies acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. I reserve the right to modify the current Terms and Conditions at any time. Please feel free to discuss any of these Terms and Conditions with me if you have any questions.

Sessions can be booked over the phone or email. Unless otherwise agreed, our work together will be conducted face to face, on Skype or on the phone. Please call at the agreed time of our appointment. Please ensure you have Skype installed, have a stable Internet connection and are ready to go. In the event that you are not able to connect via Skype you may call me on my mobile phone at your cost.

Rescheduling or cancellations of appointments should be conducted at least 24 hours before the planned time. The full session fee will be charged when less than 24 hours notice is given or for not showing up to a session. Cancellation or rescheduling of a session is to be done by conversation over the telephone. An SMS text message or email does not constitute a cancellation unless there has been a response back from myself acknowledging the cancellation. It is your responsibility to show up for all booked sessions on time to make use of your booked time with me. Missing time slots or calling late does not entitle you to extended time.

I am qualified as a life coach, counsellor and psychotherapist with a special certification in food addiction counselling. Coaching is focused on the here and now, implementing practical lifestyle changes and using new resources. Counselling often brings in the past and includes empathic listening and going deeper into your emotional and thought world. In combination, coaching and counselling can help you with unpacking limiting beliefs, becoming aware of and changing your thinking, emotional and behaviour patterns over time. The process may be long term or short term, with a frequency that depends on your needs. Psychotherapy is usually longer-term work based on the idea that thoughts and feelings that you may not be aware of can cause problems in your life. We work to bring unconscious thoughts and feelings into your conscious mind to heal underlying deep core wounds.

The process is not linear and there are benefits and risks. It often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, and you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness, and helplessness. But there are also many benefits, such as  better relationships, solutions to specific concerns, and significant reductions in feelings of distress. There are no guarantees of what you will experience or how long it will take. To be sure to give you the best outcomes possible we will continue to evaluate your needs.

The process requires your active involvement, honesty, openness and willingness in order to change your thoughts, feelings and/or behaviour. It’s important for you to commit to doing the work, both in session and between sessions to the best of your ability. I will support you throughout your journey; all decisions, actions and non-actions are your responsibility.

I am not a psychologist or psychiatrist. If you are in any other psychological treatment I may request to consult with them before we start working together. If for any reason, I feel the need to refer you to another practitioner a refund for any unused sessions will be paid to you in full.

If required, during our work together I may offer a food plan and eating guidelines. I am not a qualified nutritionist, weight loss professional or dietician. I will ask you to discuss any food plan and eating guidelines I offer with your doctor and/or health care professional to ensure they are in line with any health conditions you have or medical treatment you are receiving. The wellness and nutritional information I provide is to be used at your own risk and you should not rely on this information as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. If you have any concerns or questions about your health, please always consult with a physician or other health-care professional. I may also refer you to other healthcare professionals to deal with biomedical issues that are existing or arise during our work.

As part of providing services to you I will need to collect and record personal information to do with name, contact details, health and wellness as well as ongoing notes documenting what happens during our sessions. I can share these notes with you upon request.

As my client you have privileged communication. This means that your relationship with me as a client, all information disclosed in our sessions, and any session notes, are confidential and may not be revealed to anyone without your written permission, except where law requires disclosure. This means that all personal information gathered during your work with me will remain confidential except when:

  1. It is subpoenaed by a court, or
  2. Failure to disclose the information would place you and/or another person at risk, or
  3. Your prior approval has been obtained in writing to discuss this information with another person.

There are some situations in which I am legally obligated to take action to protect others from harm, even if I have to reveal some information about a client’s treatment. For example, if I believe that a child, elderly person or disabled person, is being abused, I must file a report with the appropriate state agency. If I believe that a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another, I am required to take protective actions. These actions may include notifying the potential victim, contacting the police, or seeking hospitalisation for my client. If a client threatens to harm himself/herself, I may be obligated to seek hospitalisation for them or to contact family members or others who can help provide protection.

These situations have not occurred in my practice. If a similar situation occurs, I will make every effort to fully discuss it with you before taking any action. Engaging my services implies your acceptance of these terms.

If there is an emergency during our work together, in which I become concerned about your personal safety or the possibility of you injuring someone else, I will do whatever I can within the limits of the law to prevent you from injuring yourself or another.

If you ask me to, and give written consent, I may release limited information to any person/agency you specify, unless I feel that releasing information might be harmful to you. If this was the case I will explain the reasons for denying your request.

Please review my privacy policy to learn about how I collect and store your personal data.
